I met Henry from IM at this neat event last weekend. Held at a "Hobby Shop" owned by Denny Akers it exceeded expectations with over 80 cars including 6-8 IM's which were welcomed, mixed with some of the finest restored and race bred early Porsches in the Pacific NW. The wild Black 911/IM Roadster with Henry chatting to the owner in this photo, was incredible! More pics in my Photos.

Robert,
As a transplant from the Canadian prairies, I really appreciate what the Northwest has to offer every day for the weather, scenery and the N.W. automotive scene which offers hundreds of varied events within an easy drive all year long. Not many places in our country that can offer that so come on out, anytime!

Sorry for those who missed the Bullsession. Keep an eye on 356groupnw.org for info for next year and lots of pics of past bullsessions.
Scott, I'd have a tough time missing out on that run to Tofino. Hmmmm, meet at Henry's early morning, have breakfast on the ferry to Nanaimo............who's game and when???????
My Goodness, you guys are tempting me again! Lets see, Hot August Nights in 10 days, the Southern Oregon Tour and wine tasting in early October, the Southern Oregon Friendship meet in mid August, Sakes Alive, the open road calls! A tour of the B.C. attractions and blow off a Miata. Just kidding Ron, I had an 88 5.0 in 88 and it was a blast except not a good winter car in the midwest.

It has been a few years since we made that run last, but if we met in Vancouver for breakfast we could hit Tsawwassen mid-morning for the ferry to Nanaimo, to Port Alberni and Uculet and Tofino by late afternoon. The road crosses the mountain range that runs the length of Vancouver Island and plummets down to the west coast. It's like a really long roller coaster: 18% grades and a lot of switchbacks. Maybe not for the faint of heart or those prone to carsickness, but the scenery is beautiful as only the rainforests of the northwest coast can be. Maybe 120-150 miles.
Yes, that road is quite a drive. Especially with the locals and logging trucks, who know every corner and hill, and don't tolerate 'slow' drivers.

It was quite a 'thrill' (to say the least) to be driving a car I just picked up that morning, and one that I was not that familiar with, on it. I did enjoy the drive, as did my dear wife, but there were a few tense moments. The drive back from Tofino was more enjoyable, as I had a few days there to get used to driving an air cooled, rear engined, carburetted car again after a few years away from them.

If I win the lottery, I'll ship my car out and join you guys.

We went out to Tofino for Christmas last year. Really fun drive, except it's a little long when you have an 18month old in the car. We drove my Dakota, which does not handle quite as well as the speedster.

Coming back it snowed and that road was a little on the scary side. Just before we got down out of the snow in the park on the east side of the island, traffic came to a stop. Turned out a very large tree fell down across the road and crushed a honda which had pulled off the road. Killed both people in the car. Put a major downer in our trip.
My wife and I drove out to Tofino (in the IM) two summers ago. It pissed down rain the two days we were there (they don't call it a rain forest for nothing). The IM leaked everywhere! Still, we had a good time. If you guys go I want to come too....please....I'll drive 100 metres behind you guys, so people won't say, "what type of cars are those?"....."I don't know, but that's one sharp looking Miata!"
Ron
Actually, the reference to "driving around in a pink Miata" is an inside joke on The Simpsons. Nancy Cartwright, who is the voice of Bart, used to drive a bright pink Miata around Los Angeles. She has since sold the car, but I know the rest of the cast gave her endless grief about it. Nancy lives near me in Northridge, CA and we are represented by the same agent.
