If I were buying a Rod Emory Special from anyone I'd be asking for the Outlaw badge that Rod puts on every car. If they don't have it I'd question the authenticity of the car. And if anyone told me they were selling an original Rod Emory Outlaw badge I'd ask where the car is. Because one without the other likely never happens. Unless the car was totaled but even then I doubt it.

They are on eBay. India sounds right. I’m building a fake Emory outlaw. So I think a fake badge is ok. No one on this site is doing 100% original. But there are some pieces on our cars that can go on an original. Head lamps, turn signals etc. I’ve decided that I want a car that looks like an Emory Outlaw and also that it feels “vintage”. Doing a Type 4 with a 901 Porsche transmission. So all of these cars are a blend. I’ve got a “real” Emory key fob and a fake grill badge. Who cares.
I’ve been researching the origin of the Emory badge. The eagle is a Reichsadler. It dates back to the Holy Roman Empire. It later became the emblem of the Germanic Empire. And later was the emblem of the ADAC Car Club of Germany. It was also on a few early Nazi flags and was the inspiration of the Nazi Eagle. So you can make it into whatever the heck you want to. I just think it’s cool and historical.

Try sending this retailer in India a note  they also have an ebay store

expocity@yahoo.co.in  , name of the person I dealt with was Sujata Rani… several of us here have purchased from him.

— or their eBay stores in India… just send the seller an email via ebay.

I may have made this up in my head, but I think I saw an interview with Rod recently where he discussed the grille badge and it's origin in the business. Something he said led me to believe he was trying to prevent the fakes from being sold.

That's correct, when they were 1st available through Rod I bought a grill badge and a shift knob to match both are no longer available but an Outlaw key chain is.
