The 356 body (unlike the beetle) is not mounted on a separate pan. It is more of a true unitized body - hence rust repair is much more costly than say replacing a beetle single side floor pan. Why would you want to cut up a non-rusty 356 to build a replica? Ha, guess some VW Beetle enthusiast will say the same about destroying a beetle for its pan (especially a 1967 one year unique) --- but there are many times more of them built than 356's. Considering the newest 356 suspension components you can get would be 1965 --- wouldn't you prefer 1972 or later beetle components? If the desire is increased handling then go for a tubular chassis with modern component parts. One of the real benefits of the Fiberglass replica over a 356 are avoiding the rust demon and high cost of parts and maintenance.
