OK,

Well fifth buyer, fifth bailer. This most recent time he sent all of the coin, and was honestly trying to make it up to get it or make transport arrangement. With the Winter coming on, and no movement, I returned his money and have it for sale once again.

Anyone local (MA, RI, CT NH) want it. lemme know?

Thanks,

TC

Complete '68 Beetle pan, the Porsche leaves the building at the rockers. The pan DOES have a Ghia disk brake front end with all new components and drop spindles. The rear is a swingaxle with a short axle conversion, a custom built Pro-Street trans from TransForm. All of the goodies, welded gears, hardened shafts and keys, four spiders, heavy duty side plate, etc. and a nice mix of type IV and TYPE II gears for a true Freeeway Flyer, plus all new brakes/bearings/etc.

AND a genuine Beetle spine with the Porsche umbrella emergency brake and steering column bracket under the dash.
I really am surprised you never finished that car, TC.
I think it's a case of something everybody would appreciate when it's done -- and nobody wanting to invest the time to actually do the work.

Got an estimate of how long you think it would take to put it into driveable (milk crate for a seat) condition? Two months of part-time, maybe three? Or does it need to be truly grafted together and tinsmithed?
The little Prick is drivable right now, got a little single port "driver" engine in it. I drove it all over Hell for the week that it was legal (not needing an inspection sticker) when I first registered and insured it. It's got a horrible pair of Volvo bucket seats in it and starts on the key which is dangling below where the dash board attaches. The original (small 356 Speedster) is in it with the insanely rare Pre-A quarter ring horn ring and button.

It really does have all of the goodies in it. The pan has been shortened perfectly, the body sits nice and low, the color is surface rust and red primer. The front end is ball-joint, disc brake Ghia with all new components including steering box. The rear end is swing axle with a custom built (all of the goodies including a Freeway Flyer gear set) Pro Street transaxle from TransForm.

Titled, registered and insured. The title is the real deal, Massachusetts in my name for a 1955 356 Porsche Continental Coupe.

But really, you gotta look at it, if you're not local it's not worth it. No pictures, no shipping, no more problems. Five times is enough.

Walk on over and check it out, otherwise forget it.

I would have finished it up long ago, but between the Ghias and 356SC and 914, I kinda got burnt out of German cars. No surprises left and always up against a power limit/budget limit/handling limit. I've got a neat MGA/Ford V8 project under way right now which is gonna be my Winter "we'll see" project. If it goes well, good for me. If not, it's back to the Fiat 600. The next German car, if any, will be an '82 Targa with a 4.0 Rover in the rear. My Buddy has it on-hold for me until next Spring.
The "Little Prick" is sold . . . . again. We'll see if it stick this time or if there's a repeat of the past five "sales."

The car went with just the Pre-A dash and gas tank, as such I have tons of remaining parts that I bought for it over the years, nearly all of them for the 356, a few remaining Pre-A parts, and a ton of high quality reproductions and accessories. I'll make a list next week some time and give everyone first dibs if you want. After than, maybe Ebay or probably the 356 Registry, lastly TheSamba I suppose.

Be great if Gordon dipped into his 401K and bought most of these things for his current or next build; I wouldn't have to ship 'em. I hate shipping. I suck at it. The manager of the UPS Store hates me.

But for you guys, I'll ship, 'cept it'll take forever.

And ever . . .
Sold the first day. Going to a really good guy, well known in the VW community, who has a complete lower portion of a '54 356 with all the mechanicals, right up to and just a bit beyond where mine has had the bottom cut out of it. The VIN on these cars is carried and stamped into the upper shell and panels, the lower structure is identical from '53 to '55 so the results will be flawless.

He's going to join the lower and upper bodies together and finish the car as it was meant to be. HE has dealing all over the word and does some major manufacturing and fabrication and has the manpower to accomplish the "marriage" pretty easily.

The result, a genuine 356 Porsche Continental Coupe. In restored condition, they're worth upwards of fifty grand, so . . . not bad.
