I’m a new member interested in a 356 Speedster Replica. Just bought a 911S but have always loved the 356. Do any of you have any recommendation as to the best quality Builder and Build? I was looking at JPS, INTERMECCANICA, Vintage Motorcars Beck and Specialty Auto-Sports. I’m trying to determine who does the most quality build? Intermeccanica and Specialty Auto-Sports do have roll up powered windows, Vintage-No, not sure of JPS or Beck yet? I think those would be a great option here in Texas where rain can onset quickly? Any advice you could offer would be of great help and appreciated? Thanks!

Welcome to the madness, a lot of good info and people here. As a group, we usually suggest buying a low mile used Speedster and drive for a while and making your list of wants and need before purchasing new... "Your mileage may vary "

Special Edition:  ( Carey Hines) Superb product and customer support

Vintage Motor Cars: (Greg Leach)  Superb product and customer support

IM: No longer in business but if you can find a used one that's a plus

JPS: Has improved with overall quality but per the may comments herein it's,                       a Jekyll Hyde syndrome.

SAS: Must rear comments herein and do research so that you do not become one of dozens of people that are out funds.

I’m in Texas, recently retired pilot USAF…and American Airlines. I’ve owned a couple 911’s and the first year model Boxster and love, love all Porsche. I’ve always been fascinated by all 356’s but just don’t think I could justify or swing an original…if I was, I’d try for a 2019 Speedster….looking at some of the replica’s have kindled my possibility enzymes and will still let my dream of someday swinging a 2019 beauty. I just don’t want to regret having chosen poorly and I know you folks would know…I’m not trying to knock anyone or anything…But I’ve been pretty stoked with the possibility…First replica I’ve considered, but given the year. If it’s done correctly, I think it could be a worthwhile purchase?

If you want roll up windows and want to buy new you have very limited options.  You can buy a Vintage Motorcar 356 pre-A Coupe.  It is a pan car but is extremely nice if you can live with a coupe.  Or you can buy a Beck (special edition) 356 C Coupe.  You could look for a used Intermeccanica Speedster or Conv D.  There is a Used IM Conv D for sale on this site.  It might be a Canada only car.

But if you want a speedster with roll up (power up) windows you will have to look for a used IM.

Or you could do what I'm doing.  Have Beck build you a Conv D.  Unfortunately the mechanism for the soft top is not available.  I am buiding one with a removable hard top, soft top delete.

Beck waiting list is up to 3 years.  I think Vintage Motorcar is about 2 years. I'm at 15 months and counting.  I was told 2.5 years.  So I'm half way there.

Where are you in Texas?  I'm in the DFW area and have a 2020 Special Edition Subaru powered speedster with the newly designed chassis and upgraded handling.  I would be happy to show it off.  It definitely helps to see the different models in person.

Thanks! I’d love to buy you lunch and see it! Absolutely…I’ll drive to you…I’m in North Fort Worth

Anytime, I sent you a PM

Yes, CMC is out of business - can't really pinpoint the year - CMC in 1994 but followed by Auto Resolution/Restitution (?) and the Street Beasts finally in 2010. They were largest manufacturer and there are many out there.  One often still shows up in original shipping crate.  The wind-up window model was $895 more but was not available as a separate hit.  I'm guessing maybe 1 in 100 had the option - but purely a guess.
