imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageLying underneath my Speedster in the driveway, and I hear a car back up and stop. Another admirer, I think. (LOL)

"Nice car!" I hear. I slide out to say thanks. Turns out I'm talking to a fellow named Brian Lum, who is the Scottsdale/Phoenix 356 doctor. (He makes house calls to service clients who can afford him.) Of course, he can soon tell that he's been drawn in by a replica, but has nice things to say about Beck's product.

Anyway, he's on his way to see a '63 coupe with an ailing fuel cock a few blocks away. We chat a bit longer, and he departs.

Since I'm on my way out for a drive before dark, I decide to swing by the coupe's home and give it a gander. Very nice fellow. He remembers riding with his folks from SoCal to Sacramento to purchase the car in 1971, and his dad gave him the car a few years ago. Same family for 45 years... Very cool.

THEN, as we're chatting, what pulls up and parks across the street, but a perfect, blue, original 1955 Speedster with a beautiful Plasticon hardtop! Gorgeous! It was just out being exercised by the guy who maintains the stable of 30 or so classics owned by one of the Campbell's Soup family. He knew that the Porsche doctor was making a house call, and came by to jaw with him a little...

What an afternoon! All three guys had nothing but compliments for my car (they appreciate it for what it is), and I'm looking forward to crossing their paths again...

As I was getting back into my car, I suggested to the Speedster's driver that he was  probably tooling around in a $350,000 automobile.  He said, "Lucky you! The owner is letting it go for $340,000!"

It was a delightful half hour, to say the least…

Pfffft. Happens all the time here in Morton, IL.

Just the other day, I was tooling around in my wife's 2012 Town and Country, and I came across 15 or 20 OTHER guys and women in their mini-vans as well at the Circle-K on Main and Jackson. We all went inside and got our Polar-Pops. We nodded, motioned each other to go first, paid our $.85, wished Javier at the register a Merry Christmas, and headed down the road into the sleet.

It's pretty much the same thing everywhere I go. We're all cool that way.

LLLLLLLOOOOOOLLLLLLL
Stan, you never disappoint!
Still laughing...

Wow... Its like Santa Clause brought you a special 356 afternoon for all the troubles you faced this year with a smile on your face. Color me green.

The owners of 356 in my hood no longer let me hang with them since I sold my T6, and I seem to flaunt my plastic car more than my real 2015 911 4S.  it's a Seattle/Northwest PCA thing... They just can't stand the sight of our cars.

I love a speedster w/ a hardtop!  Beautiful color combo... I can't say I had seen that blue before, other than in coupes.

Wonderfulmstory Cory.  Thanks for sharing.

Aww, Lfepardo, I've admired YOUR setup since I first saw it! Those beehives! That sleek hardtop! (And, you might have noticed that I'm partial to a silver tub with whitewalls...

These boys were sweet as pie regarding my ride. They didn't even gripe much about the PCA window sticker that came with my car -- they were much more intrigued by my 1973 Monterey Porsche Parade decal, wondering where they might find one... LOL

A fun encounter, for sure!

Cory, excellent photography and your commentary's superb per usual. Thanks for being out-there as diplomat-exceptionnel for us deskbound SOC'ers [without wheels]

Doug, you can't drop a bombshell statement like "for us desk Lund SOCers without wheels" without 'splaining why you have no wheels. What's going on with your IM?

Oooops, sorry Robert, didn't mean to add any mystery (or whining for that matter; well not much whining ;-) No story really: my car's in the shop again, but just for routine issues, and I'm overworked and underpaid .... but not complaining !! Happy New Year My Friend's ! Hope to see you all at SLO

.............. and now, back to our regularly scheduled program ;-)
