This car was built as a standard Speedster by SAS and shipped to a guy in Oregon in 2005. The owner wanted to race the car and had it severely modified to that end. Parts were removed and the body modified. The convertible top was removed and the seats replaced with Speedster seats. Here is the picture of the car as it left SAS. You can go to the Craig

wow I used to have bumpers...20k is a good deal don't you think Charles? What's a top go for anyway? How bout' exactly how much would it take to bring it back to it's original level?

ryan I thought you were posting YOUR CAR. My bad

The person who owned it (and older gentleman) bought a Model A according to 'Clyde'. Clyde is the shop owner who took the car in on trade. 15k as the value. OK this could all be bs. I'm just repeating what the seller said.

He is a nice guy. I had a long chat with him about the car and other hotrod stuff.. runs a hotrod shop in Monroe, WA (appx 30 miles north of Seattle)

I'm tempted. I'm not really a speedster guy. In my world I spend way too much time on freeways and a functional top is a must

If I was mr speedster I'd be all over it. Maybe spend 10 grand on options and have what only a few have. A real SAS

The car may be altered more than is visibly revealing. The car may not be a daily driver and may no longer be street legal. The items removed include: front and rear bumpers with deco, horn grills, door handles, deck lid grill, convertible top and bow system, side curtains, heater/defroster, tonneau, boot, rocker deco, threshold trim and rubber tread, wiper assembly with arms and blades, washer assembly, Roadster seats, door mirrors, entire interior, trunks upholstery, Porsche badges, hood handle and badge, sound deadening.

The bodywork performed: door handle pockets filled, horn grill openings filled, deck-lid grill recess filled, bumper slots filled, defroster slots filled. I am unsure what if any alterations were done to the engine and emission system.
The only thing there that bothers me is the shallower foowell.

I could easily live without ABS. I'm not a big fan of big brother in sports cars..

AND the earlier suspension would be fine. I actually prefer it to the Mcpherson struts. There might be more options for shocks for the front. Whereas I've never really found an off the shelf strut cartridge for a Subaru I liked. Only when I had them custom valved was I satisfied

After all that I'm starting to understand why the owner let it go for 15
