356A VS Bra

Anyone know of a place to order a bra for one of Kirk's Vintage Speedster 356A? The only one I have found does not cover the bumper and does not come up high enough on the hood. Any suggestions?

I saw a bra advertised on Ebay that might be big enough. I think it used to belong to Dolly Parton. Or, maybe you could get one from Erik Kirzinger's old wide-bodied girlfriend! (see the posts on W-B cars).

(I know, everyone hates a smart-ass, but it's a slow morning).

I had a bra on my 1970 beetle. I made the mistake of keeping it on the car for the entire summer. Took it off in the fall, and guess what.....the paint was a slightly difference shade of yellow. I don't think that old speedsters or beautiful, young women should wear bras. Young speedsters shouldn't either, but old women should.

Beware of using bras on your car. A friend had a new Maxima SE and installed a bra to save the paint. He removed it one day to clean the car....the buffeting and grit underneath had badly worn the paint on bumpers, fenders and hood.

Instread of a bra which can promote paint fade, chafe, and mildew, consider one of the new tansparent layered covers. Or just dodge any rocks that come your way.

George is it truly transparent or if your looking at car can you tell and on a similar subject what are some of the protection coatings people are using on their cars?

Thanks for the funny replies. Yes I have heard that a bra could damage the paint on the car. I guess I'll just have to dodge incoming rocks from now on.

Michael, Where I live in Nor Cal. there is alot of junk on the roads, gravel etc. I have been using a VS bra for about 2 years, but like you, thought of more protection. I will probably get a Colgan Custom bra soon. colgancustom.com . The key to using a bra without damaging the paint seems to be removing it often and cleaning the car and the bra. I don't really care fore the looks, but lots of rock chips looks worse. Eddie

Steven, THEORETICALLY the high-cost spread is almost totally transparent (no color shift) but it is also best applied by someone with experience. Most high-end car dealerships and body shops are selling and installing it; check with your local Porsche dealer.

Just a month ago I had them installed their product on my IM. It's pretty invisible and I'm happy with the finish. $600 for full kit / light guards/ extra film on bumper / door edges and installation. The installer said 356 is rather difficult to install because of complexly curved surface. I had to remove hood handle and bumper before installation.

I just Ordered & Returned a Colgan Bra for my CMC. It didn't come close to fitting.

I use a Colgan bra on my 84 IM. Bought it new off Ebay last year for $9.95. Fits fine.
