The pictures look so much like our repros that it was hard to tell it was real....
@Bill Proutyes! That front is 100%. Rest of it looks kinda weird though
I'm thinking that was a Cabriolet with a Speedster windshield because the door tops and area aft of them look awfully high. The windshield seems to be sitting oddly as well.
After more thought it MUST have started as a Cabriolet because the hood indicates that it's a T6 B, and I believe the Roadster died before the T6 came out.
The ad states it started out as a 1962 Karmann Coupe. So obviously it's had the top removed. The ad further states that the front cowl was reworked to accommodate a Speedster windshield.
Definitely looks like it had work done on the tops of the doors since there are no longer handles to roll up the windows and the slots for the windows are gone.

OK, I just re-read the description on Samba and don't get it. Was this a real porsche (with a big P) that was modified or did someone actually make a complete steel body replica?
Hey Craig,
Sounds like this car started life has a 1962 356B Karmann coupe before someone went bonkers with a hack saw. I think all of the bodywork was done in steel. Using that metal, the front cowl was changed to accommodate a speedster windshield. The front bumper, horn grills were removed and the turn signals were uglied up into body. Both the front and rear fenders have had metal flares added to them. Metal tubing was added to the front hood, custom rear engine deck lid and the entire inner interior structure of the body. This includes the closing of the door roll up windows.
I agree 100%. It looks more like a replica then some of our replicas.
