Does anyone here know if the brakes from a 356 C will fit the VW suspention? I have seen the parts on VWs but didn't know if they are a bolt on. Whats it take? The package I am looking at includes it all spindles,rotors, trailing arms, calipers etc... for the front and cables, backing plates, axel tubes etc... for the back. It looks to have all the little items as well. Any thoughts?

You would be better off with good aftermarket brake kits like the ones from CB Performance. The reason is that 356C parts are scarce and expensive while you can buy replacement parts and rebuild stuff for the CB units from your local NAPA auto supply store.

So Cal vw parts offers a bolt on disc set for ball joint and link pin front ends,they also have them for the rear. These are a 100% bolt on kit and come with everything required to do the change over. Unlike using ghia disc where you have to change the spindle's these kits now eliminate that and bolt right on to the drum spindle. The rear disc's even come with the e-brake. They cost 499.00 for the front kit and 499.00 for the rear kit. Hope this helps ya.
Thanks fir the input. I have looked at most of the brake kits. I found a fellow selling a complete setup for a 356. I thought I could pick it up for a grand or so. It runs 100 to 1400 to keep the wide 5 pattern by buying the kits. I thought it might be cheaper and more authentic to put on the 356 setup. I have seen 356 rear drums on VW setups but did not know if the discs would fit.

I guess I should have added: Is it worth it for autenticty's sake to put on 356 brakes?

Sometimes is pays to pay a bit more, and save yourself a lot of hassle. If you're mechanically minded and don't mind the extra work, then go with the 356 brakes. If you want something that is easy to install (I did mine and I'm not mechanically minded) then pay the extra and go with the new wide fives. You'll also have 4 wheel disc brakes, rather than disc/drums.
