I needed to replace some old taped-on rear reflectors (required for the roadtest here in Japan), and to avoid drilling holes in the body, I came up with this simple bracket design for rear reflectors.

It clips itself to the rear bumper's mounting bar on a VS (40mm x 6mm fit), and can be pointed up or down, to mount a variety of rear reflectors for bicycles. Hope it's useful for somebody!

I think he’s referring to the original style 356 reflectors. If you’re going to have to add reflectors, as David in Japan has to do, why not just add the original style reflectors is what Tony is asking. I’m guessing it’s because David is going to remove them as soon as the inspection is over. But if my state required a reflector I’d just add the original style one as well.  

Those repro reflectors are definitely not cheap by the time they get to Japan ($150+ish?), but I just don't want to drill holes in the body. Plus my car's out in the rain, and I'm not 100% on how long those reflectors would stay shiny and new.

But you're quite correct about the "right thing to do". Any reflectors would be a life-saver around here, if I broke down at night. So my printed ones will be a permanent fixture on the car (below the bumper), and also allow any future owner to change to whatever reflectors he/she wants.
