After reading through the different forums I was inspired to add a third brake light due to the increased safety aspect. I liked several of the different ideas and settled on the LEDs under the engine grill.  The area under my engine grill isn't smooth, pretty, or flat so I came up with the idea of fabricating some stainless steel brackets.  The brackets were made with 1/16" flat stainless steel stock.  I made the tabs on the ends 7/8" long, the long part was made 14 9/16" long, and it is 3/4" wide.

I wanted to put the LEDs onto the strip of SS and have that mount behind the outside edge of the grill.  I utilized the mounting holes that were already in the grill.  When installed the SS strip is perfectly centered between the vanes of the grill. I drilled a small hole at one end of the strip and I put in a rubber grommet to protect the wires. I ran the wires under the engine lid, zip tied it to the lid hinge, and ran it down the side of the engine compartment.  I used the flexible wire cover that the hot-rodders use to make it look nice. I plan to affix the wire cover to the side of the engine compartment with some silicone but I still need to buy that. I tapped into the hot side of the brake light and attached the ground to the spot where the other lights were ground.

I used two 12" LED strips and those were affixed to the SS strips with the 3M adhesive that was on the back of the strip.

In the last photo I wired the lights to a battery to test the function.  It is very bright and very fast to light up.  After testing I finished the final wiring and it looks very clean.  The SS strips make the LEDs lay flat and gives them a little lift to put them right under the vanes. I centered ny medallions to not block the lights.  I guess I have room for one more and I'm hoping Santa brings the one I asked for.

If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

Robert---nice job on the third brakeloghts.  NO ONE should miss when you apply your brakes as the lights are super bright.

I did a similar set up using the LED strips but I just stuck mine to the outer edges of the grill.  The way you used that SS strip mmakes yours show up better.

These cars aren't the safest conveyance on the road and we need to add everything possible to improve our visibility abd be safer.  Good job!
