Correction to the last email: The theft was 9-30-08.

Spoke with Kirk today, he is obviously very upset (and pissed). Our new Widebody was locked away in another room (engine room) and avoided theft.....we are relieved (about our good fortune) and sad (for Kirk and the Owners of the stolen cars) at the same time.

Seems like hard times in the economy in the USA & abroad will lead to further thefts, kindnappings, etc.

Best of luck in recovery of the cars/engines.
Last night most likely 2-5:00a.m. 4-completed cars were most definately stolen along with 2-engines a a few other items.
The phone lines were cut b4 entering and they had every known tool to cut/splice etc to gain entry. This also isn't easy.
These folks went thru alot of trouble and I have to assume have the
outlet for these cars. Its damn near impossible to put them on a ship/container w/o proper paperwork which is no easy chore along w/registration etc. Costly/time consuming/ knowledge..Not that it can't be done. I would think the border and most likley long b4 we awoke.
They stand out like "Beautiful Thumbs" and are as all of you know easily noticed.
When the paperwork / PD / Detectives are completed or earlier VIN#'s, Plate #'s and color combos will all be posted as most of us know and are familiar with most of the local Speedsters . I'm sure there will be some alternating between now & then. Also, storage for a period of time takes the heat off as well.
My husband I have never seen so totally devastated and trying to explain this to his customers who most of them dreamed of having this car for a very long time was most likely his biggest heartbreak. Its not easy to explain when one has no experience in this type of theft.
Thats the update. I'll try to get all of you more info as it comes in and we are allowed to realease it.
Thanks for your thoughts.. This has been the "Day from Hell" !

POST PICTURES ASAP!!

the community for these is small and so are the parts.

there are only so many places to sell parts and i think we already all monitor those channels.

Damn Mary---I just hate this for you and Kirk. Had to be devastating and I fervently hope they catch the bum derelicts who would rather steal stuff than work and get their own things the right way.

I have a feeling that they will have a hell of a time getting rid of them and you have thousands of friends on the lookout for you. Please get the pix and VINs posted asap.

I hope they were insured and even if so, I can't imagine the disappointment of your customers. I hope they were all insured and destined for Automotive Legends anyway. (Poor attempt at humor---sorry.)

At least they knew quality stuff and a major builder who would have more than 1/2 a car in the works!

Get your security folks in and beef up the security.

God bless you and Kirk.---Your friend, along with many others here---Jack

"Mark, I'm pretty sure that samba page is about some fake Porsches
being stolen. Which seems like a sort of rough justice... " This was posted on a group of 356 owners called 356TALK. It is the forum for the 356REGISTRY. It was posted by one Barry Brisco, proud real 356A owner and all around nice guy. NOT! I am sorry for the loss, and will keep my eyes peeled.
I have a freind watching Ebay he is on there a lot. and the eastcoast car trader mags.

I suggest you have all the national car auctions alerted as well. I think its time you concidered itching the serial on the corner of the windshields You can have the glass supplieres alerted to check their records.
Stamping extra numbers on the beams and trannines in not so obious places. even hidding a few on the frame covered with not so good putty that would come off shortly after the is drivin a while. A repair shop might catch that..

Im Sorry Kirk and Mary. I hate this. And I'll try to help.. Ps I still love my Vs
