I agree, that looks like a good deal.
My mechanic is installing a 901 gearbox, out of a 6 cylinder 914, in my IM for $1500.
He took the gearbox apart and switched out some gears to better match my IMs engine characteristics (sorry Al, I don't know the gear ratios
). One nice thing about the 901 gearbox is 5th gear can be changed without taking the tranny out of the car, so if I don't like 5th gear it can be easily changed.
My mechanic installed a solenoid lockout to prevent hitting reverse, when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I don't have the car back yet, so I don't know how well this will work.
