5 stud vs 4 stud wheels, what's the difference?

Hi I was just wondering what the main difference between using 5 and 4 stud wheels on a Speedster replica are? I know the originals had 5 stud. I plan to have half moon hubcaps so the bolts won't be visible but wanted to know if there are any other differences/advantages between the two?

The difference is one stud...;)
Seriously, the five stud "wide five" has ten slots while the incorrect four stud has only eight slots - usually a dead giveaway that you're driving a "kitcar".
If you look in my photo file you'll note I could give a rat's ass.

I have wide 5 in the back and 4 in the front (disc upgrade)....

Or you can occasionally get some 10-hole 4 lug wheels, but they're custom made and hard to come by.

Thanks for the replies guys. If the difference is only aesthetic I don't think it should be a problem as with the half moon hubcaps the bolts/studs will be hidden.

The rat vinstage racing look is no hubcaps and exposed threads with open nuts. On originals it was due to huge finned brake drums. To complete look you can buy brake drumskinz to get the finned OEM look.

An awful lot of variety exists with old-school racing wheels in the five-lug pattern.
I'd be using the so-called 'gas burner' wheels I I still had the four-bolts.
Brakes are a bit more expensive for the five-luggers, too (at least in my experience).

i never understood why ghia discs can be had for $150 and wide 5 discs are $450. expensive wheel adapters, but if you wanna play you gotta play - right?

Thanks for all of the replies. I still can't decide between going for a normal 4 stud wheel with decent vented/drilled brake discs or getting the CSP wide-5 kit. Too many decisions!

Those Drumskinz look like a good idea, does anyone know how much they are? The website doesn't give any price information.

yes, only wide 5.

no point on a 4 lug as you can't see the inside part of the hub (best part of a wide 5 setup).
