They are clearly better. That transaxle, however, looks like it weighs more than my current engine and transaxle combined.

Believe I saw an ad for a car of some sort with a ten speed automatic. It's what they are having to do to get the mileage requirements. I test drove a Boxer w/ 6 spd manual once for a few mins, and sorta got confused about where I was in the tranny once or twice. The Speedy is four speed and the Mazda is 5 spd. So I have a foot in each camp. And further, I will confess that once in a while I'll grab the Speedster shifter in 4th and begin to go find 5th. Never works . . .
I tried a six speeder on a VW Jetta and yes I did not quite know where I was on the test drive myself. Must of been a seniors moment. ( )
Sometimes I find as you hear the engine.... you do reach for another gear if your in 4th of 5th and the engine is over 3K rpm... you want to calm it down and you find yourself looking and you realize oh yeah there are no more gears to use.
