Hi all.
Looking at a 54 speedster replica.
It’s titled from 92. It’s been in a garage for 20 years. Fiberglass is in good shape, and seems to have all the parts. Looks like a 1600 and the motor turns. Hasn’t run in quite a few years.
Looking for an idea for valuation since the former owners wife has no idea.
Any info would be helpful. Ty

What you have is a 57 replica wide-body. (Tear drop taillights and shine up license plate light). Appears to be CMC/Fiberfab from the mid 1980s.
Does it have the missing pieces? I see the deck lid, but what about the rear bumper, front horn grilles, hood handle, top, door panels, etc?
Show us a picture from the side (door gap is important).

Some new replacement parts too.
I don’t have access to the car at the moment, but the passenger door gap isn’t perfect, drivers side is better.
Titled how? As a VW, as a Porsche or something else and what year? Also, what does the title have as the VIN #?
Potential big registration problems depending on the answers to these questions.
I will find those answers out, I do know it was previously registered and on the road here in NJ
Ideally, it will be titled with the VIN and year of the VW pan it sits on.
It's a rough one but doable, I've been down the project path a few times. Inspect: Chassis , Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & tires . Body, Electrical, Windshield assembly, Gauges , Interior, Top , Tonneau cover, Side curtains . Trans.. who knows and the motor has the worst fan shroud ( cooling wise) one could put on an aircooled engine, . A project like that has so many unknows you need to figure the worst case financial scenerio . Type of title is important too . Surely it will need a complete tear down to where to bare body sets on the bare chassis and start from square one as safety is first and reliability second. IMHO you would need to but it right to make it a worthwhile project , what that said, In addition to whatever you pay for it allow another $10,000 to $12,000 to complete the restoration. I have a Fiberfab Speedster that is the same as your car but Mine has water cooled Subaru power. This type of replica can be made into a nice driver.

Larger door gap at the top is an easy fix - search "fix butt sag" here. 1/2 day fix and $25.

Back to @Brian T, listen to what Alan tells you. He's taken many such automotive sow's ears and turned them into some beautiful silk purses. Has the owner mentioned a price range?
