I'm sure this isn't a new discussion topic, but I'm treating it as new and hope I can get some good input on this. I'm 6'-3" and would be the one spending a majority of time driving the car. I struggle fitting into smaller sports cars, although I owned a BMW Z3 and that accommodated me just fine.

I need an honest opinion. Is it a waste of my time to consider a vehicle of this size for someone of my stature, or would I be able to fit in one comfortably (having not had the luxury of test driving one or knowing someone here in Atlanta who owns one)?

Thanks!
Steven

I'm 5'10" and it's a hassle with the top up......Top down, I can drive this car from one fillup to the next, during road trips, and not have a problem....I have the drivers seat forward about 1" from rear most position.....

6'3" would seem to be a tight squeeze, and a "pain" with the top up.

Best advice is to find some one "close" and take a trial fitting....

Just my $00.02.......
You might want to consider a Speedster instead. While perhaps not as sexy looking, they can be quite a bit roomier depending on the manufacturer. If you're seriously considering a replica, I urge you to attend the Import and Kit/Replica show in Carlisle, PA in May. Both Leon (with his Spyder) and I (with my Speedster) will be there, along with a bunch more of us crazies. You'll have a chance to try many cars on for size. I'm sure you'll find something that fits you, even if it's not a Porsche replica. Check in the "Events" forum on www.speedsterowners.com. You can get there by clicking on the link on the first screen for this forum.
Steven,

Sit in one first... My husband is 6'2 and rather manly sized. He sat in a Beck with the seat cove and it fit decently. But our car doesn't have the cove (recess where the seat is actually in the firewall) and it doesn't fit him. At all. The bugs hit him in the forehead. Kinda funny actually (at least to me).

So now it's my car. Picture enclosed. I'm driving, Steve is on the passenger side. On/in/around the passenger side...

Great responses - thanks folks! I'll definitely consider attending the car show in Carlisle this year. I've been in the past but this was before my interest in Spyders. I don't think I'll consider a Speedster at this time, simply because it's the look of the 550 that has struck my interest in these vehicles. Perhaps down the road though. Loved the pic of the car posted by Angela. Thanks for sharing! I can definitely see you having to clean the bugs off his forehead after a long, evening summer drive.

I spoke with Greg of Vintage Spyders and he suggests it wouldn't be a problem - but I do agree that there's no substitute for getting inside one. I'm in Atlanta and I actually heard from Greg that there's a gentleman here who's selling one but I can't seem to find it on the classified list. If anyone knows this individual and can put me in touch with him, I'd love to meet up with him for a test drive - and who knows, a potential sale!

Thanks again all!

Steven
I'm 6'3", 200lbs, no problems fitting. I did modify my car to make it more comfortable though. The seats are the biggest issue if you're big. I changed them out along with a 13" steering wheel, pushed the seats all the way back and lowered them by mounting them on 1X4's.

Also you should consider your feet size, some people have lowered the floors to accommodate larger shoes.
