I was searching to find something to put my 911 engine in and I came across a post for a 550 in an estate sale. I asked for some pictures which I received but the person has three not one all look new. He is putting a VW engine in one of the 550s and is offering the other two for sale a 550 and looks like a 956. What questions should I ask in regards to the 550 and how much would it be worth? These cars have no engines or tires just suspension.

If they are relatively stock frames, your 911 engine will not fit without major alterations in the frame and body. If you had a 912 engine, the fit is better.

If you want to observe the growing pains of those who have built their cars from the frame up go to www.spyderclub.com and do a search. A couple members are in the process of building their own. That might give you an idea of what you could expect.
