We bought this car a year ago on a whim. We drove it up from CA without any problems. We have two other classic project cars that require more attention at this time. We need the garage space as our second project will be shipped from AZ next month. It is with a heavy heart that I am selling her due to the fact that she is my absolute dream car. Dual Weber Carbs run rich and need to be adjusted. Runs well otherwise. Fun little car!! Asking $16,500.00 and it's worth every penny.

Made by Classic Motor Carriages. Has just over 14000 miles (original I believe) on it. Comes with toneau but should be replaced. I have a car cover for it. I installed the roll bar this last weekend. It came with the car when I bought it and we just now got to installing it. CMC went out of business in '95 and that is pretty much all I know about the age of the car. It is titled as a 69 VW. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I don't know if I am allowed to say but it is listed on ebay as well.
So someone posed a question in Ebay about the frame on my car. I am new to the speedster thing. I have been in love with them since I was a young teenager but just got this one a year ago. I looked underneath and I can not see a frame. It appears to have a pan on the bottom. I am not able to take a pic as it is too low to the ground and I dont have a lift. Can you tell me what frames Classic Motor Carriages used on their replicas?
Denise, I don't think you're asking too much at all. I'd bet there's a buyer out there somewhere. I'd say run your ad again, maybe for a few days longer. If you're willing to take a loss on it already, maybe start it as a one penny auction and see what happens. Otherwise, a consignment lot arrangement in a busy part of town might sell it for a commission.
Fifteen is fair. I bought a disaster for sixteen when I first got into this madness.
Cory hit the nail on the head !
I've sold of number of speedsters in the past and learned a majority of the flared speedsters tend to bring less money that the classic body style, however yours has the "necessary eye appeal".
I'll suggest doing a 10 day eBay auction starting on a Friday. This way, you get two "weekends" for the 10 day auction price. Be sure to include as much information as possible. Photos... there are never too many photos, all angles and close ups will make a potential buyer feel more confident in bidding on your speedster. ~Alan
Denise,

If I were trying to sell your car I would add a bunch of details in the description...

things like condition of the paint, maybe "nicely applied metallic green" with just a "few chips from road use" or "looks great from 10 feet", or "original paint in good condition" or "recently repainted". Also, things like "well done leather seats" or "custom naughyde interior", or "new carpets" or "carpets show only slight use" or whatever gives a potiental buyer more correct information about the car. Particularily you want to give information that build up the reason(s) I as a potiential buyer should buy your car. "Chrome is in excellent shape" or even "chrome could stand some work" gives a prospective buyer something tangible to work with. I would forget about talking about the frame and would talk up the engine and transmission, condition of the body, and the like as well as other pertainate facts...tires are new or tires have 75% tread left, transmission shifts smoothly, engine starts easily, idles smoothly, runs well at interstate speeds, car handles well, rides smoothly, or what ever may be applicable. Your car is IRS. (Independent rear suspension) That might be important to some potiental buyers as IRS cars ride better and handle better than most swing axle cars. But the ad doesn't tell anybody that.....

I would also drop the comment about Classic Motors is out of business.. gives the looker things to think about that you as the seller don't want them thinking about. I would say that "parts for Speedsters are available from a wide range of companies" if it come up...and that is accurate....

Just keep in mind one mans swamp is another mans beach front property, and you want to be selling beach front property with your car ad.
