I drove the 10 hour round trip yesterday to take my Magnum Dino replica up to Carey and the gang so they could check out the feasibility of doing a Subaru conversion which we scheduled for this coming winter. They said that it would work well and much of my water cooled parts will be able to be reused such as the plumbing, radiator, AC condenser etc..   While at the shop I saw a Cabriolet that was an older Brazilian Chamonix car that they had local artist paint the car to look like the Janis Joplin Porsche. Carey took on the job of converting the car to electric power. The batteries were Tesla and some of the other tech. The shop had cars in process everywhere, Speedsters, Spyders, 904's and coups. What a dream job they have. I was told they are quoting deliveries out to 2026 for new builds. I call that job security. It was fun to see their shop again, this being my 4th or so visit. I am looking forward to having the Magnum converted to the 2.5L Subaru JE253 engine. I loved the conversion they did to my FF Speedster. The Suby's broad torque curve makes for a fun ride.

I can’t remember if I’ve posted this story before, forgive me if I’m repeating myself.

When I was working on my 912 living in Denver in the 90’s I went over to a local Indy shop (Storz Garage) to pick up something, manifold gaskets or something, and they had Janis’ car there. (the real one)

I guess her sister lived in Boulder and she brought it to Bob to get it running before they let the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame display it.

The one that’s there now is a replica. Janis’ car was sold awhile ago.
