Got two complete trannys drum to drum and don't know which would be better to put in the speedster. Not worried about the 4 or 5 bolt issue. Any thoughts? 1600 stock engine. 165/70/15 tires. Jeff

'68 transaxle, no question at all. '68 has all of the benefits of the later IRS.
The '68 came with the long axles, however, so if yours is a standard Speedster body shell, you'll have problems fitting wheels other than stock VW or with a custom off set.
