Hello you Car show folks out there... we have an opportunity to get a few cars together and show as a club in Whittier Calif. (East of Los Angeles) on August 26th. This show is held in a part of town called "Uptown" very cool area with cobble stone streets and trees covering the side walks with tons of cool cars, shops, food, booze and flair.. I will post more information about fees as I get them. I will be attending, and it was a blast last year and I did not even have a Speedie.. Oh yeah, there were over 300 cars and not ONE Speedster! for shame, or is that opportunity calling! Hummm... This will be a great day to sit, talk and share stories with other folks too. Then maybe take a cruise down Whittier Blvd for us Ole timers.

Let me know your thoughts,

My Unda Cuva Brutha , Speedster "D"!

You gotta "Go Low For Show"!The Whittier meet sounds fun - and what would a cruise down Whittier Blvd be without our radios blaring "Woolly-Bully", "Land of A Thousand Dances" and "Low-Rider"?
I might be able to break out a couple of Pendleton's that still might fit us!

BTW - There is another meet the following month in Ventura that's a pretty huge Porsche meet. Check out GermanAutoFest.com -

Hey Adrian!

Enter that bad boy Speedster of yours and it will pull more than its share of ooohs and aaahhhs!

Polynesianpop is a cool handle! I used to have a sand-rail that I dubbed 'The Guam Bomb'!

'Bomb is not such a smart word to banter around these days otherwise I'd still be using that handle - hence "MUSBJIM"

Hopefully we'll see you at the Whittier show - the Pacific Rim has got to 'represent'!

Later! - MUSBJIM
Hello Adrian,

You can enter any type of car in any type of shape... I think we can have a few tubs there it will be a lot of fun. just to hang out and even just walk up and down checking out the other rides and their stories too! Besides like I mentioned there will be lots of food too and music, dancing and all that stuff, then we were thinking of taking a "Ride" down Whittier Blvd. after the show maybe go to dinner or something... Just like the "Ole" days.. :-)

YES, we should be able to if you mention that we are all signing up together or as a group... Last year they had a lot of groups that were staged together for a "Bigger" impact. And Yes take your shade too. depending upon where they sit you (Westside or East side of block) determines when and how hot the sun is going to be...

Jimbo, thanks for the info on deadlines.. it's very important that you sign up early to make sure we capture enough space for our tubs!

talk ta ya soon,

Speedster "D"
Gabe, you were correct when you told me about this "American only CRAP... I've wrote to Larry the Chamber guy and I want to hear his response... I actually told him that if you wanted to go by the letter of the law then you MUST allow us to show because we were built in the USA! I think their reasoning around this descision is to limit the "Kids" cars with the bouncing and speakers stuff. But even that doesn't seem fair. How can you state that creativity ends at our boarders? That just seems plain DUMB!

Don't get me wrong I am proud to be an American, and I an even prouder to say and understand that we are not the ONLY people with the knowledge to create sweet looking rides...

Speedster "D"

P.S. I'll share Larry's reply with you later!
Correct POST Gabe.... I do not understand a 'City" that promotes "American" only shows, besides WHAT is American anyways. I bet every 56 or 57 Chevy in this show is sitting on a set of Yokoyama tires!I can not beieve that my city would pull this CR&P on us.. I have to tell ya guys that I wrote a long letter to the city planner that is in charge of this event and shared with him my disapointment in their decision process. I was really looking forward to getting a few Tubs together for this event, and now THIS .... well Screw Whittier and and all the horses they rode in on! and any other city for that matter that believes that true automoblie passion and design some how end at our boarders!

Vince,

Technically our cars were made here in the US., but they didn't want that type of answer from us. They said, "our cars are still replicas of a foreign car"

When my application went in about a month and half ago that was not on there application. I just got a phone call last week about this issue and they were going to refund by fee.

I also told them that this was a shame, because we were not there to win trophies, but to show the cars and enjoy the great food and drinks.

Gabe
That's exactly what I told them Vince... But then Gabe told you what they also told me, and it really PI$$ed me off to think that only American cars can have any style or class. WhATEVER... besides Vince I will be meeting with the Chamber of Commerce next Wednesday, and I can REALLY lay into Larry the clown that was in charge of this event for the Uptown Association. Like Gabe said we just wanted to show our cars and have some dogs and beer while enjoying the day!
