NOT MINE. Definitely a project but they always seem to go for $10k up - this one is only $3k. This one has rebuilt engine. Sunroof and Fuchs. Just 1 picture so hard to tell total real condition. I'm near by so can help new owner load on a trailer.

Sounds like an economical entrance into the world of Type 4's.
Crucial question is why it "doesn't start" if you are after the drive train... but you could be right Rich!

You first. I'll be over here, watching.
912E's are really cool. My garage is full now. Hopefully someone rescues this.
Stan, you know me...I'm the "watching guy". No, after you, thank you.
And here is another 912E project... $6k. Claimed to have "ran" when parked "20 years" ago..

The FL one is only 30 miles from me. With only "2,500 cars were sold worldwide, and only 500 had air conditioning" it might be better investment than the .7% (which is then taxed!) the bank pays on MM funds. I bet ethanol fuel is why it wont run.
At $8k, this one on ebay might be better investment in precious metals:
And on the other end of the spectrum.. here is an early 912 for $20k that looks like it needs some refinishing as well..

I'm not sure what to say about the dash. Ahhh...
$20k for a somewhat ratty 912! I sold a '65 911S in 1980 for $3500. What was I thinking? Oh, needed down payment for a roof over my head.
FL 912E is gone! Anyone here need help loading it up?
I never cared for the 912/911 0r the 914 body styles. with that said I did have a friend that had a 911(I think)gimballa turbo carerra or somethen like that, that thing was wicked,as were all of his toys.
This one crossed the US and is now double price in CA!

Depending what "some rust" is that could be a potential good buy. Guessing '78 is last year for the air cooled T4 bus engine as the water cooled "Wasserbox" came soon after. Another one that could move to CA and double in value.
Google confirmed that '79 was last year for the 2L 70hp T4 air cooled engine. It pushed the bus from 0-60 in 20 seconds - but the bus was very heavy and not particularly aerodynamic.
NOT MINE - $10k and needs lots of work but looks rust free.
