Your going to have to be pushing 3800 rpm to run at freeway speed with that final drive and forth gear. An up-right air cooled VW engine needs to have a rpm at around 3300 rpm on the freeway to not over heat and rattle to death. The original 914 engine had a crank mounted fan that did not mind running thos rpms. I would go with a freeway flyer, or do the 915 5 speed gear box swap....
