911 exhausts come out at an angle on the drivers side. I already have free flowing Euor-spec headers from Dansk, but to get a "period" look" dual straight exhausts, or a single "pea-shooter" type would look more correct. Dansk has a single inlet/dual outlet exhaust but both outlets are angled at 45 degrees rather than straight out the back. Any ideas?

I think it will be pretty tuff to get a vintage look with a 3.2L engine. Perhaps an earlier 911 sport muffler with the twin pipes can be fit, but I have no idea if it works. I do know that the twin pipe sport muffler is fantastic in the sound department.

Besides Howie, how period do you want to be? Aren't you putting the small IM flares on the car so your "meats" will fit?

And how are you going to mount the retractable wings?
Dale, Your right. Maybe vintage isnt the right word to use here. If you look at Marco's pics in the registry( Marcos de Aquila), the 911 exhaust really looks out of place. The GS cars had a center exhaust, or at least dual straight out the back. 911 are of to the drivers side which look "wrong" to me. Henry and I are in discussion for the aero retractable wings and the undercarriage adjustable downforce trays to keep this puppy in earth's biosphere.
this is the look that I am looking to go with too, but since I have a type IV off of a 914... can I still use this type of exhaust with out too much pipe conversion? Since I have had the engine off, I have learned somthings that just never occured to me. I should have asked earlier, but didn't... since the 914 was a mid-engine and the speedster is a rear engine, I have had to make a ton of mods. I never even considered this when I was looking into engine tins... turns out that the type IV tins will not work because of engine location. Thus, I have had to fab some from scratch. I also had to modify the cooling air ducts too. This is the main reason that I was running so hot. They were ass backwards. The guy who I bought the car from did not realize this. It is amazing what you learn the hard way.
I re-read your earlier post on the mods to keep your car on the ground and I'd be interested to hear more on those.

My IM was a very early tube frame 911 model. Even with the modest 2.4L in there I can get the car into the sub 6 second 0-60 territory and at 120 MPH or so it still semms to have a lot more to give. But it is SCARY! The front is so light...actually the whole car feels light.

Any thoughts on keeping it on the ground would be appreciated.

Brian
Brian, I went for a ride in anIM 911 3.2, Marcos told me when he got his car delivered it was a bit "light" at speed which unerved him. Henry's speedster 6 cars have 911 suspension components. Anyway,Marcos who has had factory 911s before went to his local Porsche mechanic and adjusted ride height, etc and the car is rock solid on the ground at over 100plus mph. Your suspension may need a little tweaking to set ride height properly.
