I bought this when I thought of doing a type 4 Raby build. Case is ready to be rebuilt, it for sale, make offer.

Jake is the premier builder for replica/speedster/VW based builds....the management..both reasonable and unreasonable are understood by both experience and genius...911 power plants are almost unreasonable for 911...to extrapolate that into a fiberglass speedy with or without 911 suspension, etc. is an exercise in financial/theoretical/fantasy MASTURBATION...sorry, my man..honesty the only policy...good luck!!! good health!!
Leo, LEO, You know not of which you speak, except maybe in the area of the Masturbation (verbal and otherwise) technique which you employ with great relish. My build WILL have a fully sorted 88 911 Carrera suspension, brakes , running gear, 915 transaxel, and a dedicated Intermeccanica speedster 6 frame to handle the power, weight etc. Its performance envelope, with its power/weight ratio should put this ride in the sub 5 second category. It will handle, brake better than most 911's even of more recent vintage. I suggest you get back to doing what you do best, my friend......

Howard, I'm surprised you wasted your typing efforts, not worth your trouble.
I just couldn't let something so ignorant pass without comment. Thanks, Bruce. Wycoff isnt that far from Randolph, I would love to see your ride sometime.

Me too. It's in PA being painted. The painter just told me next week is it (again). I'm really not in any rush at this point.
Cool , Bruce. Keep me posted on when its done. Winter is coming, so trying to get in some wheel time becomes more precious. My IM wont be ready till May/JUne at the earliest. Im still trying to decide the little things to make it special. Lots of fun, many points of view, some more relevent than others, but we take what we can use, and throw away the rest. Speak soon, Howie
Howard - a little more info on the core would be helpful. Like year/miles/displacement and general condition (was just running, not run in 20 years, big hole in piston), and serial number). Plus what you'd like to get for it based on stated condition. I recently bought a '75 1.8 from a rusted hulk off ebay (local pickup) for about $100.
I bought the case this summer from LN engineering, which has a close relationship with Air-cooled technology of Raby fame. The core is cleaned, honed and ready for rebuild. Its a 2.0liter 914. I believe from a 72 model year. I could get the serial # if interested. Im not interested in making a killing here. I just want to recoup what I spent.Which was 200 dollars. The core is in excellent rebuildable shape.
Ah, YESSSSSSSSS...how we all know better than STUTTGART...let us stroke our egos on our extraordinary engineering skills !!!!!!!!!
Leo, Im happy your going Type 4,Im sure your Beck/Raby ride will be wonderful. Please keep us posted. Im sure we will glean something useful from your comments in the future.
In mean time keep enjoying that wacky weed.
...a thought just struck me (trust me, they're few and far between), if Stuttgart was so smart, how do you explain the 924?
On another note, I'm updating my nom de plume list to include;
1) El Guapo - the most Guapo hombre in Orange County (that is after Gabe "GQ").
2) MUSBJIM - the mindless, sarcasm-spewing, fat-headed maroon
...and now including my honorary Hawaiian handle
3) Wanahawkalugi - the omnipotent,all-knowing, loco-moco munching, north shore wash-out!
Peace - Out!

Wolf, Jim Excellent commentary! Some people dont realize that they give up credibility in whatever future subjects they may want to engage the club in. Shortsighted and incredibly stupid in my humble opinion. Wolf if you want pics of the core, serial #, let me know.
NO, I have one already. Was asking for others since I just couldn't figure out what you had. Still not sure since the 2.0L didn't come out til '74 0r '75. A '72 would be a 1.7. Is it just the case or an entire core engine (with crank, rods and heads and all bolts and other pieces)?
It just a case. 74 2.0 liter Type 4

whats the letters on the case? GC? W? Also the 2.0 liter engine for 914 first came out in 1973 with the GA and GB serial cases in North America. Your case if its a 74 should be either one of those.

Okay, I'm sorry to horn in with something even MORE pedestrian, but El Guapo, the most Guapo hombre in Orange County, the mindless, sarcasm-spewing, fat-headed maroon Wanahawkalugi, has driven me to it.

... and on a tech note about the engine case, my 1.7 cum 2366 has a number starting with EA. It was supposed to go into a 412 -- if that helps.
Cory -
Wow, I coulda used that contraption when I was in SEA in the late 60's!!
