What do you all think about this 914 for sale near me. I had a 914 back around 1984 and I'm considering adding one to my small collection.

I seem to recall that one should beware of GEX.
The '71's have a 1700 unless it's been upgraded and tail-shift (unless that's been upgraded) making them suggish and sloppy shifting.
Ask about rust in the Hell Hole and rockers and get photos to verify whatever the seller claims.
I've got a beautiful '74 with a 2.0, mid-shift, new (fake) Fuchs, tires, rubber, interior and paint I'm selling for $18K, but it's in California

Beware of frame rot underneath as well.
As Michael said, beware if it's a GEX engine. They have a reputation of cobbling mis-matched stuff together to get it out the door, the engines don't last very long and quite often the build specs don't match what's inside.
I bought a white with chestnut interior '72 new and kept it for 11 years with many mods. Despite extreme care I got some rust. Sold it for what I paid for it originally (added Fuchs, anti-sway bars, AC, extra gauges). $16k is lots of $ for a '71. Every panel looks to be a different shade of silver and why would you paint the black rubber bumper tops silver?

Let's talk about rust. What's the situation? They all rust-- where and how much are the operative questions.
I'd potentially be in the market for a teener, if it were set-up right and was really, really rust free. That rules out a car from Columbus, OH, or anywhere north of the Texas state line.
