Those 917 Lasers have a strange attraction similar to a woman with way too much aftermarket silicone. If I was a younger man, and still enjoyed lots of strong drink, I might at least take it for a very short relationship, followed by an abrupt parting of the ways. But at this point I just am not that interested in that kind of cheap thrill......
What was that TV show in the late 70's or early 80's with Brian Kieth? Hardcastle and Mcormick I think,, he drove one.
The one on that show was actually a McLaren M6 replica called the Coyote, or something like that, on the show. Maybe it's a character flaw of some kind, I have never been able to generate any enthusiasm for the Laser 917s. To me they look too much like a toy with poor mold lines, plastic trim, and waaaaay too many liberties taken with the shape.
Hardcastle was a Manta Montage kit car called the Coyote. Whew, Lane survived and has power! The FORCE be with you!

Maybe 215 cu inch Olds aluminum Starfire (3.5 liter). Nice engine, light weight, easy 150-200 hp, stock. Variants later used in Triumph TR8 and Rover.
