With all the options they loaded on in 1958, it would have totaled out to almost $3100.
In 2019 dollars, that equates to: $28,250; or the essentially the cost of a new base VS with 1600cc engine.
I thought this was fun to look up. The Walt Disney Company held its IPO in 1957 and sold each share for $13.88. If you had invested $1,000 at the time, you would have been able to purchase 72 whole shares. Disney has had six stock splits in company history. Your original 72 shares would equal 27,648 shares today. On June 15, 2018, the Disney stock closed at $108.85 a share, making your initial $1,000 investment worth $3 million today.
Today's stock value for Disney is $110/share.
***That said, you cannot drive a stock, only watch it go up and down. But a $3,000 investment in Disney would net you over $9mil today.
