I got this today. Pics look authentic, but you never know. So much is faked these days on the web, one always has doubts. But . . . Like finding out there really is a golden goose and she really does lay golden eggs.

A New York man retired. He wanted to use his retirement money wisely
so it would last and decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal .The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15 years; the owner and wife both had died, and there were no heirs. The house was sold to pay taxes. There had been several lookers, but the large barn had steel doors, and they had been welded shut. Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the barn, and it wasn't complimentary to the property anyway......so, nobody made an
offer on the place. The New York guy bought it at just over half of the property's actual worth, moved in, and set about to tear in to the barn.......curiosity was killing him. So, he and his wife bought a generator, and a couple of grinders.......and cut thru the welds.

So what was in the barn...............?

The doors were welded shut, but an angle grinder took care of that.

Being portuguese, I'd say I'd have heard about it.

Although it has already been "de-urban-mythed", two things make it weird; one, obviously, that nobody would have checked out the gigantic "barn"... and second, those cement-brick constructions here aren't used in barns, but in warehouses, and aren't very usual in secluded places, as those are typical "industrial-area" infrastructures.

I feel sorry for whoever had such a "collection", allowing it to become almost a dumpster.
If the idea was keeping the cars NOS, then it would require a whole lot more work (and as we speak, people make a living of just that, making current cars ready to be NOS in a few decades).

That whole warehouse must smell of... oportunities wasted...

anyway, will try to know more about this.
I can tell you that it is in Portugal - or at least, that they are "portuguese" cars, the licence plates seem to be perfectly legit and period correct.
