Dale:

That's Rob Young's car. You may have read about him giving a ride to a Cancer patient just recently.

It's running a WRX Subaru 2.5 liter, I think, with a super-mega-puffer turbo in there. My racing son got to drive it and stated that it was beyond "seriously quick". Says a lot, coming from Chris.

The rest of the the car is immaculate, too. I think this was Rob's third year coming to Carlisle.

Rob came to Carlisle two years ago in '07, and then again this year. I had the pleasure of driving the car in '07 when Rob had tossed me the keys to take a quick spin. Hoss is correct - it's a 2.0L motor with the stock WRX turbo setup.

I thought it was pretty stout back then, and just about on par with Danny's Spyder in the tune he had it in last summer which, for anyone who's been in Danny's Spyder, is certainly not slow.

Anyway, two years have gone by and the turbo Speedster is very well sorted out now. Boost comes on quicker and harder, and the car just feels much more balanced. It's noticeably faster than it was two years ago.

But, that doesn't really do it justice. There's no doubt in my mind that even babying it out of the hole, it has a solid 12-second 1/4 mile pass in it.

Plain and simple, that car hauls ass, and gives me a goal for the power we need out of the red car. ;-)

I just noticed the look on Teresa's face as Lane pours the Oban.
Uh ... I hope it was something funny ...

You guys who keep posting these pictures -- THANKS! I can't tell you enough times how dry it is over here. I still haven't seen an air-cooled VW. Somebody explained to me a week or so ago that this was a French colonial interest, and that I'd be more likely to see an old Citroen 2CV than a Bug.
Speedsters are right out of the question on this part of the continent, and I don't know that I'll make it to South Africa to see Greg's amazing construct.
Keep those electronic imports coming!
