I'm with you george! (I think)
After a day of up and down cornering in the Sierra foot hills. I came to the conclusion that gear ratio differences are just too large to maintain proper RPM control in our motors. It seems to me that a 5 (or 6) speed would have to be the answer. No matter what is done by a builder, the remaining fact is that there are only 4 gears to choose from. Too often the choice comes down to either excessive R's or lugging it slightly.
PS> In the past, I ran a beefed up "pro-streeter" with 3:88s that performed about the same as my stock VS with 3:88s. The big differenc was that I could make "drag race" burn-out starts with little fear of breaking things.
Just my humble oppinion, of course......
