I have a set of heads exactly like these, to the degree that I thought that the pics WERE my heads. Can you really run heads with this sort of cracking between the seats and not worry about lunching the engine?

I DID run mine for I don't know how long, but after blasting them and finding the cracks they went up on the shelf (thought that I might use the bigger valves one day.)

Any knowledge (rather than opinion) on this? Of course, I'll pull the valves and blue the ports to see how extensive the cracking goes, but I never ever thought that they might still be usable. Maybe, hopefully, I'm wrong. This guy's selling his for three bills, that's a lot of coin for eight valves and some scrap aluminum. Kinda wondering really.

Thanks,

TC

I think $300.00 is a bit much but, I've rebuilt engines and found cracks similar to the one on the cylinder head in the photo. One of the engine in question was a 2110 and the owner wanted to go to 2180. (back in the days before 94mm pistons were available. The 2110 ran perfectly prior to tear down.

I had the heads rebuilt and the cracks welded just to be on the safe side.
