I have obtained a 57' speedster kit that I have decided I do not have the time to complete. Is it appropriate to ask you guys to help me come up with a reasonable price? Is it better to just post it on eBay and take what I get?

It has a tube frame with 4 wheel disc and independent suspension. No VW suspension. Heim joint connections and coil over’s the works. Most of the trim and windshield have been installed. I believe everything is present to complete the build because I cannot think of anything that is not there. Everything to finish it is brand new. About the only thing left is finish final wiring, finish last 60-50% of the interior, fuel system plumbing, install door handles/latches, body work/paint, and trim.

Engine wise I have a 1600cc Type 1 and a 1700 Type 4 (Out of 914). Both were running when removed from donor. The type 1 is to convert the type 4 to an upright configuration but the 1600cc is installed for mock up. 4 speed VW transmission with IRS.

I have downloaded some pics to my photos section.
Thanks for any help

A partly assembled kit on ebay just sold for under 6K it had the engine installed and needed the interior etc. If yours in in that same price range then I am interested. Could go a little more if needed. Would you be interested in a trade for a 914. I have a 75 with no rust (As the battery tray is even clean) that was running until I got some dirt in the carb. Currently has a 2.0 installed. Car is about 90+%. I'm in Norhtern VA. My Son when to Clemson so I have made the trip a number of times.
I watched the one on eBay. I believe that my car should be worth more then this due to the frame, suspension, and level of completion. He states that it was 50% complete. I have never built one of these but I would say having the body mounted to the frame is no where near 50% complete as pictured in his listing.

The eBay listing shows what a $6k car is. What is the most anyone has seen an unfinished 356 kit sale for. And what made it go for so much. A few comparables and I should be able to wedge my car in there somewhere.

Thanks for the responses and the interest in the car.

I added some more pics for those interested.

Chris,

Your posting started with a what is the price question. I was trying to give you what I knew from watching some of them. A 359 in FL complete kit went for under 4K, the one in NJ that went for 6 had the engine and tran installed. 5k for a kit in NH. Those were not started. If you go from a start there is a lot of time in shortening a pan etc. I subed mine out and bought a titled shortened pan with new floors etc. Since it sounded like your engine would need to be redone which would be about 2K. So where do you need to be with your kit?

Repost or email me. If you would consider the 914 in trade I can send you pictures.
