A while ago some folks were discussing a mid engine/body swap/bla bla bla Speedster. I've been stripping out my 914 to get it ready for a body swap in reverse (I'm putting the body on a custon chassis/drivetrain) and found that you can remove ALL of the bodt sheet metal and a very good portion of the cowl and interior bulkheads and still maintain integrity with carefully placed cross tubes and plates.
The 914 is longer than the Speedster tub (that spyder 6 looks a little longer as well) but the body could easily be modified, and the power train is fairly open
