This is the piece of shit legislation that Hagerty Ins. has been imploring its customer base to respond to. Go to the Hagerty website and download the bill, the car buff's position and fire it off to legislators via eMail, or phone the numbers provided.
As always, legislators look to see where they can wriggle out of something...

Here the legislators are trying to guarantee their trough-time by pushing aside a relatively smaller voting block, car enthusiasts, in order to gleen favor with ecologists and other bureacratic assholes who have failed to do proper clean air legislation in years past...

It doesn't help that CA is financially starving through other budget mishaps (some recently related to power of a different sort)and anything that can potentially generate fees will be approved, no matter how ill-conceived and short-sighted.

But don't get me started...
