The unfinished Speedster that I bought and am working to complete has a single Weber carb. The cable connection on the carb is about 4" higher than that on the VW carb. The low position opening thru the fan housing for the cable would require the steel tube thru the housing to be bent approx 35 degrees at the rear in order to properly angle the cable. This, of course, would wear the cable out rather quickly. The stock oil cooler built onto the front external face of the fan housing is immediately above the opening intended for the cable.

Has anyone solved this problem in the past without relocating the oil cooler, possibly by adding a groved wheel in leu of the bent steel tube? Other suggestions?

Ultra High Molecular Weight polyethelene. Poor man's Teflon.

You'll find it with the tie wraps, wire nuts, wire terminals.etc.

Just ask your friendly HOME DESPOT helper. (Seems there was a thread about THIS just a short time ago.)

It is usualy packaged in 2 or 3 different diameters, each piece about
10 inches long.

Ask for spiral type wire harness cover/shield.
