I will be adding two additional gauges to my Vintage Speedster ( Oil temp, CHT and Water temp (just kidding about water temp)and am asking for advice from the brain trust here about where to put them on a Vintage Speedster. Can you post a picture of your additional gauge set up?

There doesn't appear to be enough space on the dash to add gauges
so where have some of you folks put additional gauges?

Many thanks!----Jack

Those 1,2,3 - cluster add-on mini gauges look so-so-JCwhitney.

Only way I would add on nonstandard gauges is underdash with a hinge to swing them outaview when not in use.

I've got dual digital CHT with prog alarms and digital oiltemp gauges on the bench instead of being installed. Waiting for someone to design me a swingaway/hideaway bracket.

Thats the first leather steering wheel i've seen on a Speedy. Expected to see an Alaska location listed , not SD (the friken BEST WEATHER city in the world ??!!)
Jack, I just thought of a few questions. First, does the oil temp guage use the same sensor as the one that's already installed, or will you need another one? Second, what's involved in adding the CHT sensor? Is this something Jake is adding, or are you doing it? Finally, where are you getting your guages from?

I'd sure like to see pictures when you're done, as those are things I should add as well.
Jack,
Make sure you run a cht gauge that is adjusted to ambient temps. The VDO is not. Aircaraft Spruce carries one: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/inpages/vdoprobes2.php
If you're going to run a calibrated oil temp gauge, go the next step and run a calibrated oil pressure gauge as well. Why rely on the idiot light?
Although I used to have mine mounted under the dash on the left side of the wheel, I relocated them like Alan's; center under dash. Actually they are mounted below the radio pod. I used a matte black, three-hole cluster that I picked up on Ebay for 2 bucks, brand new.
However, If you're set on running just the two, I have a new, black two-hole if you want it. No charge.
Having just did the research and install on a CHT here are some good links.
I used the Solarix, with a green led to match my radio. Its a real plus that I can read it at a glance. Modern but it is tucked away below the headlight switch on my left. I really liked the Micro1000 but decided that I would have a hard time reading it.

Sorry, Doug.
I meant to link to the gauge I installed:
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/inpages/CHT_gauges.php
The micro 1000 is ambient temperature adjusted. The only downside to it is that the bezel is black. It's not as fancy as the Dakota Digital, but it looks more period-correct.
I installed the sensor under #3 plug. If you have a trust fund you might want to purchase 4 wire sensors and a rotary switch. Then you can monitor all four cylinders as well as help syncing your carbs.
For a good read on the subject check out this thread on the Samba:

More info that I hoped for--I printed the thread and will go over it carefully.

Lane--Jake recommended the additional gauges and has a hinge device that swings up or down but I haven't seen a picture of it. I'm thinking the hinge idea but I sorta wanted to have them permantly in a fixed place. I will likely go with what he suggests though as this won't be his first rodeo. If I get a photo I'll post it.

I appreciate the help everyone kindly shares here!---Jack
Jack, another option to consider: North Hollywood Speedometer can provide you with a replacement double-, triple-, or quadruple-cluster gauge, with a variety of display options. They can also modify your existing cluster gauge - 'had mine re-calibrated for a different sensor and added numerical markings to the temp gauge, looks and works great. See link below - Rayner
