It is in the bottom. In other words, you will have to insert the allen-wrench pointed up. I setup my plates to the middle of the total trave. You do this by counting the total turns and dividing by two. Then set the plates at approximately the same angle that the stock ones were. Doing all of this will allow you adjustability to raise or lower the car to set it just right. I am glad I installed mine and it is great to be able to adjust the height by merely turning the screw. Oh yeah, I also had my welder-friend reinforce the welds on mine. I media blasted mine and painted them black so they hide better. Also, I installed some washers between the cap and mount flange so I could compensate for the difference in thickness due to the extra spring plate. Doing this will prevent you from over crushing the plate bushings and distorting them. I used new genuine VW ones. Some use the urethane ones but they can squeak, although some lube them. Good luck an let me know if you have any questions.
