Hi there,
I have a widebody Speedster built on an IRS pan at my disposal. Its actually my father's project but he has way to many toys to complete it properly and it has sat in his toybox untouched for three years now. It is 90% ready and is built to stock specifications. I plan to buy the car from my dad and finish it to my standard.
As a matter of background, I do a bit of karting, have built and raced a 944, and recently owned an early 911. As far as my goals, I want decent handling, egronomics (ie. "feel" in the pedals, shifter, and wheel), and some power above the run of the mill riceboy. In other words, I don't want to drive a type 1 pan with a fancy body on top. It should go as good as it looks!
I plan on the following to reach these goals - please come back with your comments and experiences!
Neal pedal box incl. hydraulic throttle
944 front and rear brakes and master cyl.
944 aluminum rear swing arms
Porsche Fuchs 15" forged alloys
Bilstein dampers, swaybars, etc.
Jake Raby 2270 Type 4 and tranny
Yoko 008's
I am curious if the car is stiff enough or does it need to be reinforced furhter for spirited driving and the occasional track day. Does anyone have a good roll bar design? The bolt-in affair does not really inspire me!
Thanks in advance!
Adam K.
