Thanks you guys,

Now John Leader and myself can more closely observe how Jim Bob lures those lovlies into his web! Looking forward to 05 and checking all the action!

Any help you need, you got it. I've got some raffle tickets you don't have to buy and maybe some other stuff too. Let me know if you want them. plenty left for 05!

Now I can concentrate on getting the car to the show field under its own power!

Bruce
Mike and Paul. Thank you for picking up the banner from John & Bruce. I plan on being there.

Bruce... the secret to getting the honeys to the hood? I take elephant nut oil & oyster oil and mix them 50/50 with Mother's quick spray detail. So there, the secret is out. But I still cannot explain why Theron was drawn to that slippery hot hood.
Bruce, these days the quiet computer guys are getting all the women. And, after they make the big bucks, like Theron will, well... they go out and buy a NBA franchise and a personal G-4 international Pimp Bird just for the thrill of entertaining their harem.

Jody, or Jodie in her former escort days was reeled in by Paul and David with their cameras and promises of a shot at Big Brother II. And Paul? Well after he heard Jodieeee whisper to me something about bigger is better, he called Jake and went for the build... that's what happened... uh-huh, yep.

And, John, I am convinced after careful study that the logo spread shot was taken against the hood of your former Speedy. Paul's had the red stripe, Dale had the driving lights, and my car had bugs from Oklahoma City to LA smacked all over the front... even some hits in the top latches. That's what I told Gayla anyway.

Gary, argh... the real catch was Kit Car Builder's nice in a bad way counter help.
Gary, please send that formula via p-mail if it comes with a 8 hour priapism seek relief clause. The only other thing I worry about it is, if you are using it on your scalp too... well, would it also promote uncontrolled hair growth in the nether regions when applied?

Hope to see you at Knotts!

Jim
(having had one extreme experience with priapism as a side effect of a transplant med cocktail gone bad. It's quite an experience to limp into ER holding your _____ with a wild eyed look.... (what I should have said; "Nurse! I need a little help here! Oh yeah, sure, run away from a patient in distress.")
Rick,

If all goes to plan, and a little luck, I'll start in Canada this spring, and you'll still get the distance award. I need to look at a map, but I am pretty sure you'll be a few hundred miles above me. But then, maybe we can get some of the eastern owners to belly up to the steering wheel for a long cruise west.

On another note; I was just admiring your 9/19 shots & am mighty impressed with your shop/garage outside shot. Wow!

The Molson on Sunday afternoon, RR #1 was about the best beer I've had in a long time. Maybe it was the crowd, the cars, and the heat. Hope to taste another one in 05.
I remember sitting at the breakfast table at the Marriott in Buena Park last year at Knotts along with Bruce Williams and Paul Harford when "Jodi" (not her real name) walked into the restaurant. You could have heard a waffle drop...in other words, the whole room went quiet - no talking, no coffee sipping, no chewing. Sadly, she was with her husband (a Cobra owner, I think) and two kids. Later, when atop (love that word) Jim Ward's Speedster, her family was nowhere to be seen. With Jim's nice luggage rack on the back and Jodi's nice...sorry, but let's just say there was a kind of cosmic balance at play.
If this doesn't encourage you guys to attend Knotts 2005, I don't know what will.
Spoke to Dave Martin at AHA. He was very impressed with the Porsche turn-out this year. He asked what the feeling would be if we split the Porsche class at show into two classes: Spyders and Speedsters.

I told him it sounded like a good plan, but that I would get the pulse of our members that were planning on attending (and entering their cars).

Lemme' know what ya'll think and I'll circle back to him with our consensus.

MM
Jim,
I'd like to see someone else leg the miles and get LD award. Heck, I'm coming back because it was a good time and by the looks of these posts, several are in agreement! I'm starting to feel like a back woods rum runner, what will hauling all this Canadian beer south of the 49th.........best tune up that 2110 before I head out for Grants Pass next Friday. Paul, doesn't that tempt you to join us??? Bring up that sweet '89 Cab, heck you should be able to keep up with the rest of us on the Wine tour (in your car, I mean)
Don't worry JimBob, I'll bring plenty of suds to Knotts next April!
Rick
Drat... that luggage rack!

John, you are so right regarding the wake she left in her walks through the Hotel and Show. The pics really do zero justice to what we all saw. Paul & I had her going for a luggage rack, uh, looking over the shoulder shot.. but her husband was pissed when they took third in one of the two hundred Cobra award categories. Last I saw, she was getting in a Tahoe, looking back. You think she enjoyed the attention?

Then there was some dentist in his 60s that brought a barely 21 year old assistant with him... I think she said he was paying her way through school. _________? He practically pushed her up on the car when David, you, and Paul brought out the cameras. I think there are shots of her on Paul's great speedy display too.

I hope to see your new Carrera/Carver sometime after the holidays!

Jim
MM. Re; the speedster/spyder awards split. I think that would be a good thing. I also would like you and Paul to look into ideas to bring the two groups in a little tighter. Maybe we can plan a gathering of Spyder & Speedster owners at a local place for refreshments and some bench racing.

The Marriot was a good spot... My only critique, and it's a small one, would be to look into a secured parking area... even if it is on the Knott's side of the hotel. I wonder how much it would cost us collectively, to hire a security guard to tend to a Hotel designated area for the SOC from 11-7 nightly? Anyone else have a comment on this suggestion?

I thought the SOC canopy was good... but maybe we could put up another one adjacent to it with more chairs for a gathering spot.

Last year was such a great event. So, these suggestions are not meant in any other way than to improve on a good thing.
Jim,

Good suggestions on the hotel and secured lot.

Also, when I speak to Dave again I am going to ask if he could lay out the Speedster and Spyder spaces on either side of the same row, or else facing one another. I know there are manufacturer considerations, but maybe something can be worked out.

MM

Mike and Paul

John Leader and I wanted a covered parking lot also but sure didn't see one in the area. Not that there weren't some but we sure didn't find one. Actually the Marriott lot was the typical blacktop lot but with so many Speedy's and other replicas in the lot I didn't hear of any "incident". At least the parking lot was pretty well screened from the main road in front and it was close to Knotts, walking distance in fact. I did that on Friday since my 'lil Speedy was broken hearted up at JPS. There were some other hotels on the main road as I walked over to Knotts but don't think you'd want to stay there between the roaches and other nocternal goings on. Just about everyone had car covers on the cars and parked in clusters under the lights, seemed to work out OK.

I don't think any of the 550 guys stayed at the hotel, they come on Saturday morning and split that evening, don't think any of them had the dinner at the amusement park either. If you could get some of them to come in on Friday and stay overnight Friday and Saturday then a possibility of a general gathering might just happen, that would be cool. I think most of the 550 guys were local to the area and just went home Saturday afternoon and didn't come back Sunday. Maybe if there was an agenda that all found interesting some would hang around.

We had a seperate class for the Speedsters and Spyders and awarded 3 trophies in each catagory. I think we had 13 Spyders and 37 Speedsters. If AHA wants to break them into separate classes that would work OK I think. Then you guys probably wouldn't have to get trophies like we did last year, maybe just a couple like Long Distance and hard luck or spirit award like last year.

My long winded rambles, Bruce
Rick... we agree on that LD award. It would be great to see some others make the drive. I hope we have an oppourtunity to get in a caravan going south in 05. If all things line up, and cirumstances allow.. I may drive to the east coast event too, via John H's and Gordon's.

It was nice to receive the Spirit award and I am sure after your haul, the LD was neat recognition. But, like you.. I came, simply because it was there. Meeting many members was what made this SOC thing special. I won't miss this one either if I am healthy, able, and have gas in the tank.

Next year I have an idea, or two, about passing the Spirit award to someone/others that certainly meet the criteria. Actually I can think of two individuals right now. Distance Award? I hope it goes to from someone out of the far northeast, or maybe from the Florida Keys.
Hi Guys, the silent minority here...silent pardner? Anywho, We can look into additional parking security concerns, but as Bruce said, the event went without incident last year and aside from having to shuffle around looking for a space near our rooms, I think all went well at the Mariott... I'm a little concerned with the Dales and Henry sleeping in together, but hey, a weekend away is a weekend away I guess (those wild Intermeccanica guys!)

Maybe with enough advance registration we can hire our own 'Miss Jodie 2005' or for that matter, do a little side event where we crown our own Ms. Replica 2005 from local talent? Hmmmmm?

More as it happens
P

Oh, before I am condemned for being a total sexist, which I am at times, a beauty pagent could be a healthy buffer to add fun and frivolity and maybe take away any of the possible stresses of the mine is shinier than his...I bet then the Spyder guys would want to park near us!
Bob,

Yes, that was a challenge to George to come out for RR Numero Dos! George?

Mike, Paul...
the 'designated parking' brain toot comes from having civilian cars (Taurus' and Camry's) parking abeam ours, with the AARP & SAS Loafer croud wheeling double decker roll arounds oh so close to our glass cars. That and having observed a near miss (or is it a near hit?) on Dale's Speedy by a Daytona Coupe trailer being angled in with a kid giving the driver backing signals... like :STOP Dad!NOW!.

Besides, where is the optimism boys?! We ARE going to have a bigger turn-out than before, right? That means parking that was adequate last year may be a beast this year. The free pub we got in both Kit Car Mags this summer will certainly attract a few more. And, my money says that you guys can get some free blurbs in both magazines 'round March. Also, using the HVW's schedule pages you can put the word out on this event early. Just some ideas from the Peanut Gallery.

Another idea that may, or may not work; is to see if VS, JPS, Beck, SAW, and IM will put up links to your RR#2 pages....
Bruce,

I don't have Jodi's, aka: Ms RR I, aka: Ms. 3M Buffette Polisher 2004's phone number. But my money says she will be trolling by looking for a vicarious photo thrill.

But, in our search for Ms "Hot Tub" Girl 2005 (A suggested title MM and PH) there are always the local escort ads. Ok, it was an idea... I'm sure MM and Paul will come up with some better ways to find Cali-Talent seeking a trophy.

Maybe more Ms. Hot Tub entrants would vie for the crown if we also added other manufacturer trophys, like:

Ms. VSOP
Ms. IM Ready!
Ms. J.ust P.lain S.izziling
Ms. Cee eM Cee eM Cee eM Cee eM Cee....
Ms. I S.A.W. Her First
Ms. BECKoning
Ms. Are they Fibre-Fab, or are they Real?

Other category awards.. (ok, I'm on a tangent here.)

Ms. Glass As*
Ms. Plastic Fantastic
And a Special Awardee, call her Ms Solid Steele, selected by Mr. John Steele.

I'd put John Steele, Theron, John Leader, you Bruce!, Henry, and Kirk on the panel of Judges. I'll do the Burt Parks EmCee, hold 'em tight, and Singer thing.
Well that does it - I will definately leave the Mrs. at home for this one. Heres an idea - how bout a 'photo shoot' at the hotel Sat pm? Do a little advertising on Craigslist to draw in some 'talent' Maybe pool some funds and come up with a cash 'first place' and offer 'rides' to the runners up... We could certainly come up with some shots for the '06 calendar. Theron could create 2 versions - a 'nice' and a 'naughty' one....
Oops - did I get off track - this was supposed to be a car show, right? I'd vote for this vs volleyball......
I just was out in our salad garden tending to some late season tomatos, feeling their texture and plumpness for 'pulling off the vine', sweat driping down my forehead as I was pondering on driving, hard, all the way through... to Knott's, oh yeah, Knott's.

Ok, Ok, my still blushing bride (1978), best friend, and someone who still makes me smile, was out there with me, talking about us going to look for a new Washer/Dryer before a show tonight. But somewhere during the talk about Maytags vs. GE, I thought of one more manufacturer's trophy.. one for the 550 crowd.

Here it is. Drum Roll Please... para-diddle, para-diddle (that's drum talk) para-diddle....

Ms. Thunder Raunch!

Ok, that's it, I'm outta here for the day. You can catch me on Kareoke Night at the Amber Room, Super 8 Motel, Ames, Iowa on New Years Eve... I'll be opening for Shecky Green and Paul Revere and The (replacement) Rangers, minus Mark Lindsey.
After taking one, and a good night's sleep... I agree Bob. If I offended anyone, just realize that every other day I take a dose of steroid; prednisone..... it makes me count with my right hoof and do all kinds of crazy stuff.

Today? I'm ok. Mild mannered, mellow, and ready to take momma to the Farmer's Market.

Jodi? Jodi who?

Gotta go,
Jim
