Bunch of us MG TD guys made our annual trek to Virginia Beach this weekend. We been going since like #3 and we always get a good reception. They actually started a replica class for judging. Wish some of you-all would caravan down with us next year.
The mid-Atlantic PCA hosts the show and there are a lot of nice Porsches in attendance every year, from 911s and 912 to brand new stuff. Couple years ago there was a Cabriolet. One year I saw a Spyder replica in the field. Beck's 904 took a top prize there last year or the year before. Nice laid back scene. Here's one of the TD guys, Jack Breza, setting up his '59 Bugeye Sprite on the flight line.
The $50 "Rock Star Parking" option raises money for the ASPCA. People bring dogs.
Oh, yeah: and there are airplanes. On several occasions I've gotten impromptu biplane flights. The museum's owner runs a P-51. They've got what might be the last flyable ME-109.
(You can see Bridget, as well as Roy Hendrix's Mini, reflected in it here. Unfortunately I was not able to start the plane...).
This MIG 3 is the only one left in the world that flies.
Cars ran the gamut from classic American sleds
This Works Rally-prepared Healey took top honors this year.
That trunk hump is for the required second spare tire.
We had a little rain this year on the way in. Not much. People were surfing on the beach.
The hotel is like $70 a night. Beach out the back door. Covered parking for guests. Irish pub across the street. Local seafood joint four blocks up the way.
Good times, boys. PM me if you want to get in on it.
