I have installed GB linkage(awesome quality and design) on my 36 HP shroud, hooked to my Weber IDF 44's on standard height intakes….just 'eyeballing' it, the berg bar sticks out pretty far on each side of the shroud, and seems like it will interfere with any K&N style air cleaner I choose. The one I really like is the "Knicht" style wire mesh ones from Sierra Madre Collection….

Has anyone out there dealt with this issue ????  Pics if you gottum'

Thanks …...

Thanks Fpcopo, for the spell check on Knecht !!!

The ones I like are not real Knecht, but look alikes that are sold by Sierra Madre Collection (go to there website to see, or also on thesamba)  They have a similar wire mesh outer, with a standard K&N filter….Look nice to me.

Thanks Ron for the pic. Seeing that makes me think they will just fit. Guess, if they don't, I can send them back.

As per usual, you all are great.

For comparison, here's a photo of a Berg linkage setup.

Do you have a link to those air cleaners?

... to make no mention of the fact that the angle bracket is leaning towards the driver's side by a good solid 1/2". Look at the 3/4 arm- it looks like he bent it in a vice to make it fit.

UPDATE !!!!!

I am using the Flat Four "Knecht" style Weber IDF cleaners….so, I found that for my motor/head configuration, it was necessary to CUT (hack saw)a wedge (pizza slice) off of both sides of the "L" shaped main support bar for the Gene Berg linkage…on the very end behind the support ball joints for the cross bar.  It would be rather obvious to anyone with a similar problem. About 3/16 inch did the trick.  Oh, how I wish I had known this BEFORE I had powder coated the main support bar to match my shroud (light Grey).  I coated the raw exposed ends with hi-temp black, and since the 'wedge' is away from the front, you don't even see it.

Everything is spit spot know….Hope this helps.
