Hello all, so it appears my single carb will not fit an air filter on top but the previous owner mounted to the top, question is does anyone  have this setup with a flexible host like this? I made a 90 host and plan to just connect up with the flex hose but was looking to see if anyone has other ideas or a similar setup as pictured?

( the problem with the flex host was it was being crushed also so i cut the 90 elbow shorter )

thanks

cheers

Go big or go home.

This is a problem with single carburetor type 1 engines in Speedsters and some dune buggies as well.  What you've done is rather innovative.  Is it possible to use another pre-bent piece of rubber hose to complete the hook up to the air cleaner?

I don't think it helps you specifically, but someone's solution in a dune buggy-                                                                                          air filter elbow 2air filter elbow 4

I've used this kind of ducting on non-pressurized intake setups. It's available in 2" or 3" diameter and wouldn't crush as permanently as the aluminum.

Other more expensive options include turbo silicone hose.

I like the idea of just mounting the filter on the wall. There won't be appreciable differences in temp between there and the engine lid. If you really want cooler air, you can always just use silicone hose and cut through the compartment wall and into the wheel well. You have to fabricate a shield/box to keep water and mud off of the filter, but it works.
