Barnco rides again!
Today it happened! The "geezers out in the garage" finally got it right. The thing started right up after we took every engine protection measure known to man. Seems that we had a faulty VDO oil pressure gage sending unit plus lack of info from Bergman about his oil pump priming procedure. Then there was the hi torque starter delay issue.
This 2387 is equipped with hydraulic lifters. All new to both of us....
It made a heck of a noise on the right side until it had been run for about 20 minutes. As it turns out, the lifters are very quiet after they're pumped up. (I'm jealous: no valve adjusting for Bob).
Our very exciting road test went just fine: it sounds great and has plenty of power, even while taking it pretty easy on the country roads around my place.
It's all good!

Bob, At 3 months you decided you wanted a different type of cylinder head. You were made fully aware after this about the delays of this new port. Our CNC shop took the entire month off to get ready for the PRI show in Florida. The sad thing is the day you cancalled the engine order, the heads were being boxed and loaded for shipment to CB. I told you I could have your engine done that week and you refused. That's fine, If someone doesn't want to have the patients for a qaulity engine, so be it. I bet Bernie told you his dyno was broken or not installed yet, right? That's the reason he couldn't pre run your engine. Thats what he has been telling people for the last twenty years. 86 stroke in a mag case on the street. That case is going to be cracked to hell in about 10K miles. I'm sure you were not made aware of that when he sold it to you. Hope everything works out and you don't have any issues.
