There seem to be some posts about this in none technical but it seems pretty technical to me. What i want to do, and Dustin has already told me i'm crazy is build a spyder from scratch in alloy. i have the tools and most of the skills and the time (it is winter here in wisconsin). What i don't have however is a body buck. i think there are three ways to get one:
1. Borrow someones car for a few hours and make accurate measurements and photographs. then use these and my 3D cad to generate paper patterns to make the buck stations. All this needs is a friendly owner who doesn't mind me droolling on his car for a few hours.
2, Buy a body from someone and use it as a buck. thunder ranch and vintage were agreeable to this but short of buying a whole car this is the expensive route and would leave me that much short for engine and gearbox.
3. Build a buck from scratch using photos. this has been done with some cars but not by me and seems pretty daunting. and possibly a lot of work just to get to the buck.
So is there anyone out there that can help me out?
