Pictures don't expand on his listing but that's a beautiful car. It says at 245 pounds, he doesn't fit any more

I can see why it's the size of a Matchbox hot wheel toy!
Has he tried ROLLING himself in the cockpit.
I use a hoist..... for me not the car. Tricky part is getting legs under the steering wheel when you enter from above. You don't want to mess that maneuver up.
I helped him out to $4001 but was somehow out bid, thought I has a chance
I don't get how it's built in 2015 on a Karman Ghia frame?
I thought all IM's (after the move from Cali) were built on their frames...
That sentence in the ad is very misleading. I assume he means that Henry verified the car in 2015 as being an IM, but it is written to look as if it was built in 2015.
I think he's trying to trade on IM's current build method, which is a purpose built steel frame. The new IMs are built quite differently than the older ones.
Actually, around 1984 give or take starts the new total frame setup on IM's prior to this a shortened Pan was used.
If you look real close you can see the emergency brake button in one of the interior shots. That's a pan based car. Curved tunnel instead of flat.
Very misleading. Obvious con artist. If its really an IM its over 33 years old.
Phil: It's just an alternative fact...

When I see little photos like this that do not enlarge, I always wonder...why?
Seems to be very useful if there is something to hide.
It's hard to tell from the itty-bitty pictures on my phone, but if it's a speedster with roll-up windows, it's a more modern build. Unless I'm mistaken, IM didn't build a Vancouver speedster until post-2000.
i can't see either the tunnel or the e-brake, but for years-- the standard e-brake was on the tunnel (not on top, as per a VW, but a lever on the tunnel.
I'm not saying it's legit-- I'm saying that on this site, we tend to assume every listing on ebay is a scam, then all pile on.
Trying to figure out how it got "Titled in Texas as 1969 Porsche4 Replica" - that sounds like it's on a '69 bug chassis.
No one sells a replica with so little details, small pictures, sketchy title, no mileage at all, and most importantly, such a low starting price. If this car is as represented, they would start with $50k. He says he once fit and now does not? Did he gain 50 lbs in a year or so? What in hell does that other BS about cars owned have to do with this. This thing smells.
The little photos are an option on EBay. You have to select the ability to enlarge if I remember correctly. May cost more. And sometimes the source photos are challenged as well. And he has a low seller rating (so an FNG to EBay).

Does IM perhaps use the rear VW chassis portion on their new tubular chassis builds so they can more easily be registered? I've only ever seen the IM build decals in the door frame.
No they do not use the pan or any part of it.
ebay ad has been ended

Yes, I got an ebay messsage that my bid had been cancelled. Sounds like it was a scam unfortunately although I'm not sure how ebay would have determined that.
My guess is he wasn't able to fix the pictures - so deleted ad and will put it back up with larger pictures. The 2010 IM build and being on a '69 Karmann Ghia chassis don't pass sanity test though. I do have some swamp land in FL - in the mean time.
the reserve was $48K
