Hi All,

In the midst of trying to get my Speedster to run cooler (despite 95 degree temps, doh) I took a cursory look at the installation of my new top....that is to say there was no top on the car when I bought it.  How in the heck do the brackets and bows go on a CMC widebody??  I've searched the site and come up with older posts that say there are detailed pics but none are visible( do they not get saved after a while?) and My Space sites that don't seem to have any content. Could someone please post a couple of photos showing the orientation of the bracket(two holes) and bows?  I have one bow with one hole and one bow with two holes.

I'd be very grateful,

Frank

Just in case you have not already figured it out, there is only one hole drilled through the body on each side and that is the one on the left with the washer behind it in the pictures above.  The other just goes through the lever, which is used to take the slack out of the top once it is up.  It's very common that people don't know what that lever is for.  That is why you will  frequently see pictures of cars with the top up but the top is all droopy rather than nice and tight.  You keep that lever in the down position while you're putting the top up and then you flip it to the up position to take out the slack once it is up.

Thanks guys,
I had the basic idea but tried to fit the top over it roughly, alone of course, and really didn't think it would be big enough.  I have one threaded hole on either side of the car that has a "strut" that goes outside to the shell of the car. Someone else put another hole in and I was trying to figure out which hole to use that would allow the bows to fit under the quarter tonneau and come up high enough to make the top fit nice and tight.  I really would like to not have the droopy top look.
That being said,  which hole do I bolt the bracket through to the body to get that snap it up effect that Troy mentioned?  I can almost imagine it but not well enough.
Vielen Danke for the photos Wolfgang.  That was sort of the way I had the bracket but, whenever buying something used, you are never quite sure you have all the bits and pieces you need.
Regards,
Frank
