Someone mentioned a Toyota engine - never heard of it plus they seem like tall, heavy engines noted for longevity over hundreds of thousands of miles vs speed. Came across this link of alternate engines in VWs.

Hey Wolfgang, I think a mid-engine LS1 speedster would/should be possible. We just need someone to build the tube frame. :-)
